So there are these tectonic plates and they are all moving. In Iceland 🇮🇸 (a Volcanic Island) the North American plate and the Eurasian plates are neighbors that are moving apart. One of the many amazing and indescribable things about this place is that there are very few places on earth that this can be seen. The only other place on earth that it can be seen is in Ethiopia 🇪🇹.

In Iceland it can be seen on the Golden Circle east of Reykjavik and southwest on the Reykjanes peninsula.

You drive along these lava roads to the end and see 👀 this and say whoa cuz you are standing on the Mid Atlantic ridge where it rises out of the sea. The Ridge marks the two tectonic plates. Monument to an extinct species:: the Great Auk. I cried a little bit at this. A volcanic eruption sucked their remote island home into the sea and they were left adrift. They then inhabited an Island too close to man….and the rest is history.

If all of this wasn’t enough this is just nearby the mid Atlantic Ridge site.

And this below is 7 minutes from Grindavik. You’ve probably heard of the Blue Lagoon. Somehow fed by sea water and full of silica whose particles reflect blue light. Kind of like the sky 🤔.
